I wanted to take a blog update and thank some people for a few things….we have been blessed by our “family” and wanted to share our gratefulness.

Sheila H…thank you, again, for the gift card and the DVD’s. You are so giving!
Riley’s….thank you for the DVDs as well. – Seriously, thank you….I was going insane watching the same ones over and over and over:)
Cassie….thank you for all the hairbows and headbands….you are bulky sweet–I love you:)
Linda…..thank you for the blankets for both Makayla and McKinley. Makayla absolutely loved hers and is sleeping with it each night and we are using McKinley’s here at the hospital. They were perfect!
Jenny E…..thank you for dinner this past Monday/Tuesday:) It was yummy as usual!
Laura C….thank you for taking Makayla last week. She had a fantastic time and it was SUPER convenient:)
Peggy T….thank you so much for the cards for each of the girls. Makayla was jumping up and down as I was reading it (I figure you can envision her excitement). She has worn her bracelet ever since she opened it. Thank you, too, for reminding us to FROG:) Your card was a Godly timed encouragement for us!
We also received a Cracker Barrell Gift Card and another DVD in the mail, but they did not include a name, so THANK YOU to whomever sent those through Amazon. They are and will be used:)
Jodie and Megan for visiting this week and bringing the girls gifts. Makayla is sleeping with Minnie:)
CELINA!!!! Thank you so much for serving us this week and helping take care of Makayla. She has played and played with the items you got on your Dollar Tree shopping. She and I had a tea party last night. Your transporting her made our week SO much easier!
Scott H…for MOWING our yard AGAIN! Thank you, thank you!
Thank you, too, to anyone who has sent a card or word of encouragement. We sincerely appreciate every word:)
I’m sure we are missing someone, but don’t think for a second we are not grateful. We are blessed beyond reason with amazing family and friends and we are thankful for your giving hearts.
SOME SPECIAL THANK YOU’S:
Jodie Watts, a friend we met at Urban Hills Church, called the other day to ask me if McKinley could be one of her heroes when running the Goofy Challenge at Disney in January. She runs with Team in Training and they raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She has ran with them since 2001. We are THRILLED and touched that she wants McKinley to be one of her inspirations for the marathon. Please feel free to donate to her specific fund raising efforts for research!!! I have attached a link to her fundraising page.
We have another “running” story, which I have failed to mention until now. I am simply going to paste the email I received from the cross country coach at Coldwater High School:
You do not know me however I have come to know a little bit about you through McKinley’s grandmother Marlene Springer. You see I am a teacher like Marlene at Coldwater Schools and also the high school cross country coach. I first found out about your story on June 1st, our final day of school. Your story touched my heart as I have two young children Lucas (5) and Zachary (will be 2 tomorrow). Although they are both very healthy, I couldn’t but think about what you are going through and how hard it must be. Just know that I am praying for you everyday and hoping that God sees you through all of this with a very happy ending. Well anyway, on that very day that I heard of McKinley’s story, I had planned a meeting with my cross country girls and boys teams to prepare our summer running goals. To make a long story short, my athletes decided to participate in charity running this summer. Both the boys and girls team picked a charity to run for and will go out and get sponsors to make a monetary pledge per mile they run this summer. In turn we will donate that money to their cause. I have 9 athletes on my boys team and they chose the Mercer County Cancer Society as their charity. My girls team of 23 could not come to a consensus about what their charity would be. I finally stepped in and told them about McKinley and within a few minutes it was unanimous. They wanted to help her. So my 23 girls made it their mission this summer to run in the name of McKinley Springer. They all have wrist bands that they are wearing to remind them of her and motivate them to run more. All 23 girls will go out and get sponsors to pledge money per mile to help McKinley and your family out through this difficult time. This is not through the Leukemia Foundation, everything we earn will go directly to you and can be used in any way you see fit. I am sure expenses can add up. I see this as a win win situation for us both. For you, lots of prayers and support and for us valuable life lessons will be learned………”It’s not about me, its about helping others.”
Thank you Coldwater cross country team and Dan Pohlman for serving us all summer long!
You know, Scott and I have always enjoyed serving and it is somewhat difficult to be served and even express our needs at times, but what I do know is that Jesus is loving on us through those of you who have served us and given to us. So, again….thank you for being eyes and ears and hands and feet:)
“For you were called to freedom, brethren, only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13
